The old Onyx telephone was a popular model in the mid-20th century, known for its sleek design and sturdy construction. It was typically made of black onyx or a similar material, giving it a distinctive and elegant appearance. These telephones were often rotary dial models, requiring users to physically rotate a dial to input numbers for making calls. While they may not be as technologically advanced as modern smartphones, old Onyx telephones are sought after by collectors for their nostalgic charm and vintage appeal. **

Without a visual reference, it is difficult to definitively determine if the stone is an onyx. Onyx is a type of chalcedony that typically has parallel bands of black and white, but it can also come in other colors such as brown, red, or green. If the stone in question has the characteristic banded appearance and falls within the color range of onyx, it is possible that it is indeed an onyx. However, it would be best to consult with a professional or use specific testing methods to confirm its identity. **
